The feature film ‘‘Dune” is an adaptation of the 1965 science fiction novel of the same name by the American writer Frank Herbert.

Dune takes place in the distant future. Duke Leto of House Atreides, by order of the emperor, becomes the ruler of the planet called “Arrakis“. This is the only place where “spice” – the most valuable substance in the entire Universe – can be obtained. It is necessary for interstellar travel. Besides, “spice” has a unique property to change human consciousness.

”Dune” is perhaps one of the best films of 2021. It pleases with its stunning visuals and not too fast narration. For all its fantastic and even surrealistic, the world of ‘Dune seems surprisingly believable. The sets, costumes, props are made and filmed in such a way that you can imagine how they feel.

The movie also has an impressive cast. There are such great actors as Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem. The icing on the cake – famous nowadays Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya.

This two-and-a-half-hour film will allow you to totally immerse yourself in a completely new, unexplored atmosphere of the future. However, it is important to mention that at the end of the film, the narrative is cut short (cliffhanger*), without having time to reveal the story in full, which hints at a sequel that has already been announced. There is no certain answer whether it is a minus or a plus. It is up to you to decide!

It should be noted that the movie requires attention and dedication. To fully understand the film, the viewer needs to listen attentively to every dialogue, see and keep an eye on everything that happens on the screen.

At the end, Dune leaves audience with trembling hands and feet in the end credits thanks to the greatness of Hans Zimmer’s music and the skill and exuberance of Villeneuve’s production.

If you were wondering whether you should watch Dune or not, the answer is definitely yes!
