About this movie:

Every day, a nice Guy wakes up in his apartment in the Free City, works at the bank, spends time with his friends and colleagues, and also experiences many of the most incredible adventures. But no matter what happens to him – getting hit by a train, or death from a firearm, the next morning the Guy wakes up in his bed, as if nothing had happened.

The thing is that the Guy is the main character of an extremely popular computer game and doesn’t know about it. What happens if one day he finds out that his world is just a game that may soon end? In a world where there’s no limits, he’s determined to save the day his way before it’s too late, and maybe find a little romance with the coder who conceived him.

Free Guy was directed by Shawn Levy, director of the trilogy Night at the Museum and one of the directors and producers of the Stranger Things series. Filming took place in Boston from May to July 2019.

Cast:

This movie has an interesting cast. Although not everyone may know some of the actors, they definitely played their roles perfectly. There are such great actors as Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Taika Waititi and others.

A rather simple story is sometimes revealed from unexpected sides, deceiving our expectations. The plot is filled with minor details that help to perceive the film better.

Overall:

Free Guy sounds very interesting conceptually, a kind of The Truman Show in a video game, where the monotony of the hero’s life leads to the realization that he is capable of more. A rather obvious reference to our reality helps understand the idea of the movie: each of us can do anything. This is a sweet and incredibly romantic movie with the right and optimistic mood.

The movie has a universal humor, a bright and well-developed visual, a competently staged action and, most importantly, a well-developed story.

Worth mentioning that there are few super cool and unexpected moments with references and quotes from such different universes like Matrix, Terminator, Avengers, Deadpool, franchise Star Wars, Back to the Future, Rain Man and Ready Player One. So, if you are a huge fan of these – you are probably going to be surprised.

There are many Twitch and YouTube streamers in the movie, such as Jacksepticeye, Ninja, Pokimane, DanTDM and Laser Beam. Also, the concept of the Free City game resembles GTA and Fortnite.

After watching this movie, we felt really joyful. There’s a peaceful ending that can even bring sensitive people to tears of happiness. Our personal rating for the Free Guy movie is 9.5/10.
