Mental health.

Bez tēmas

This article/future articles will be all about my view and my advice on different topics about mental health. So if you’re interested in mental health or you’re struggling mentally, this podcast will be quite interesting and useful for you. (disclaimer: I am not a professional, read this at your own risk)

Mental health is a very big topic and we at least once in our lifetime tend to struggle with it. Which is absolutely normal and part of human life. That’s why today’s podcast will be little insight mainly about ‘’How to know if you’re struggling mentally and how to seek help?’’.

First, let’s specify few signs that can indicate that you’re struggling   mentally

  1. www.mayoclinic.com article says most basic signals that you’re not doing well mentally are described as  ‘’Marked changes in personality, eating or sleeping patterns. An inability to cope with problems or daily activities.’’;
  2. Feeling burned out not just ‘’lazy’’;
  3. Self hatred and lack of self-confidence;
  4. Feeling everything so intensely or not feeling anything at all;

My tips on improving mental health

  • You have to have a hobby that -fulfills you, gives you energy and entertains you. Otherwise your brain will knit pick you out of boredom. You’ll start to notice imaginative ‘’flaws’’ and all that energy that you have to put elsewhere will start attacking you. It will effect your confidence and well being in general.
  • If you need a break, take a break and accept it. Don’t lie to yourself and be honest about your true feelings.

Don’t feel guilty about lying in bed all day, if you feel like you need it – you need it. Sometimes it’s completely fine to lie in bed and make yourself feel bored. In that way you’ll be forced to start doing something and you’ll have a little bit of motivation.

  • Stop distracting yourself from the actual problem and try to face it and then fight through it. You have to face your problems ,meaning, spend time alone. A lot of your problems can be fixed or at least better understood by just spending time alone. (Because every day you’re being distracted from understanding deeper insight of your problems by school,work etc.) And no, I don’t mean isolating yourself in your room and scrolling through ‘’Tik Tok’’ app is alone time that we’re talking about. Use time wisely. And no matter how good it is for healing and growing mentally, you’ll have to go through the part that is not so fun and comfortable – getting back on track. But remember -you’ll have to push through hard and uncomfortable moments in order to get better. Pain is a part of growing. Every little step is a step forward.

In conclusion, ‘’alone time’’ is a great way to self-reflect your blind spots and to finally deal with your problems.

  • Try talking about it with your friends or seek professional help. (if you can afford it ,of course.) If you don’t like either of these 2 options there’s alternative – get yourself a self-care journal, write your feelings down. You can also personalize this self-care journal by adding dry flowers or small leaves. Personalize it to your own taste using stickers, pictures, letters and more. You can also write your favorite poems or quotes in there. While in the process of filling this journal, you will get sense of yourself, of things you like and little bits you didn’t know about yourself before. It takes a lot to write down your feelings and writing in general can be difficult. So in order to help this blockage, you can start reading books. (you can also check Evijas podcast to clear some things about that topic) Books in my opinion DEFINITELY improve your mental health and well being and vocabulary, of course.

Remember this:

if you’re feeling … then.

Overthinking – write;

Tired – Read;

Sad – Exercise;

Anxious – Action;

Confused – Walk;

  • I really liked the post. I would like to know why “10 ways you can start changing your life” would actually help . But overall the post was very smart and helpful.

  • Thank you for dedicating your time to this. As someone who’s struggled with mental health for years and just recently started getting treatment, I really could’ve used some of these tips before.
    However I don’t think the “10 ways you can change your life” would work effectively for someone who’s extremely depressed or exhausted. First you have to take smaller steps to get better.
    There’s also a really nice method to help with anxiety that you or someone who reads this could use. Whenever a panic attack or dreadful feelings are creeping up on you, start observing the world around you. Count 5 things you can see, 4 colours you can see, 3 things you can smell and 2 things you can feel. It usually helps with distracting yourself enough to not be as emotional and look at your problems from a more grounded perspective. Thank you for dedication your time to this topic 🙂

  • This article was very insightful for it’s short size. I like that it didn’t focus on toxic positivity rather on accepting the struggles and giving simple tips to better the situation for oneself.

  • Well I’d like to start of with that I’m very happy and proud of you that you wrote an article about mental health and this will really help someone if they’re ever struggling. And I’d also like to thank you for writing it because it really helped me get a little bit better understanding of why some I do things when I’m sad or anxious.
    Speaking about that my favourite part of this whole article was the “if you’re feeling … then.” because it gave a straight forward way to deal with certain things like sadness or stress, and I will find it very helpful.
    But what I would say you should improve on is the grammar and spelling. There were a lot of typos in the article and the one I could most prominent was the sentence about “you should lie (Melot)in bed”. I’ll say that I’ve never lied in bed. I think you could maybe show someone that’s really good in English the article before you post it, because that’ll cut down the chances of you making grammatical mistakes.

  • I find the topic of mental health very important so I’m glad that you wrote about it. I found it very helpful that you specified how to know how you’re struggling mentally. I personally know that it’s very hard to know if you’re really struggling because no-one tells you the signs of it. I think you could improve the grammar and spelling because it was a little hard to understand what you wanted to say sometimes. Other than that i really enjoyed reading your article. Good job! 😀
