Book Recommendations

Angliski, Iedevsma, Padomi, Skola
If you would like to start reading books, but don’t know where to start  - this article is meant for you. I’ve picked three books that I think would catch your eye.  Not only you may start to enjoy reading but your focus and memory will improve as well. Reading is also a very good remedy for stress AND it will increase your vocabulary! Let’s not get way into the mental health and physical health benefits of reading. If you’re interested in that stuff, check out the article a friend of mine made, it’s called ‘’mental health’’ made by Alise. Anyway, let’s get to the actual thing of this article!

1.’Twilight’ by S.Meyer

When Bella moves to a small town called ’Forks’everything changes and it’s not just the school or the environment but there is more…she finds herself head over heels in love with Edward Cullen. Everything is going great but she has to keep a secret about who Edward really is… later on, because of this relationship they’re both faced with more challenges and difficulties.

Some may say – the film series is better, some may say – the book series is better. Well, I can’t critique every Twilight book, because  I haven’t read them all. As for now, I’ve done both of these things – I have seen the1st film and I’ve read the 1st book. I’ll expose my thoughts – the book is better just because the situation is more comprehensive and you can actually understand what is going on inside Bellas mind. So in conclusion the book

Genre: young adult fiction/ fantasy fiction

2.’Harry Potter’ by J.K. Rowling

His whole life Harry has lived an ordinary life and has never thought that things would change. When he first hears about Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, unlike Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, Harry is thrilled! His relatives try everything to forbid him from going there. When Harry starts his new school year at Hogwarts, he has come face to face with many adventures as well as challenges and mysteries.

I feel like Harry Potter is almost every kid’s dream – doing weird spells with your enchanted wand, going to school and not learning math, exploring the paranormal school, where the most unexpected, out-of-this-world kind of things seem to happen! I mean what sounds better than that? This has to be the most popular book on earth, at least that’s what I’d say. This is the perfect book for anyone who wants to get away from their daily life and slip into the magical world of Harry Potter and his time at Hogwarts.

Genre: Fantasy Fiction

3.’The universe versus Alex Woods’ by G.Extence

The book revolves around Alex’s life through ages 10 – 17. At the age of 10, he’s struck in the head with a small meteorite and since then his life hasn’t been the same. It was clear that Alex will never be ordinary and that’s what made his childhood so difficult. When Alex meets Mr.Peterson, he finally has gained a good friend who teaches him about the greatest life values and that there is only one shot in life that you can’t waste. At the age of seventeen Alex is caught at the customs with marijuana and an urn full of ashes – this is where the book starts and ends because Alex’s whole story explains how he got there.

The book overall was great and the story was well structured. Although this book has some funny moments, it doesn’t make this book a comedy. Actually, I’d say that this is a book where you sit in disbelief because of how things turned out for the characters. This book has a lot of informal languages. It’s not the absolute best book because of its word choice, but the story cuts you deep.

Genre: Fiction/ young adult

Now that I’ve introduced you to these books, I hope at least one of them matched your interests. But If none of these books caught your attention, there will be the next month’s books in the next article and eventually, you’ll find a book that you like! P.S. all of these books can be found in janisroze. lv

What I noticed when I was making this article, was that all of these books share one thing in common, it’s that they’re mostly written for teenagers, but they always end up in grown-up’s hands, at least that is what I think. Of course, it’s not a bad thing at all, it just proves that these books are well-written! And since even adults enjoy H.Potter book series then it is definitely worthy of reading. Here’s what one of the many readers say:‘’My mum loved it so much she would not let my dad read any of it to me.’’ –Alexander Benn.

  • Sveika! Man ļoti patīk tavs raksts. Tu ļoti interesanti aprakstīji šīs grāmatas – man rādās vēlme tās izlasīt.
