Family advice with 11. soc

Angliski, Padomi

Dear 11. soc,

My sister recently said she is pregnant from a guy she has been meeting for only a month. She doesn’t know how to tell our parents about it, because she knows that she will be driven out of the house, and our father may give her boyfriend problems. I advised her to tell our parents everything — they are ultimately our parents, they will understand, but now she feels very intimidated because she doesn’t know how what to. I have a feeling that she is more worried about her boyfriend, who at the moment, even knowing the whole situation, is not trying to take care of her at all. He hasn’t called her, and hasn’t visited for several weeks. What should I do? How do I convince my sister to tell about everything to parents?

Dear Concerned Sister,

I think that you should make your sister sit down in one room with your parents and tell them everything. Since you said that they would understand, they will help her find solutions. And I think that your sister should forget about her boyfriend since he has been acting like that.

Dear 11. soc,

My son is 17 years old. I have started to notice that my son is behaving very strangely lately. When he was 14, we spent a lot of time together — he told me about all his success at school, about all the events that are happening in his life. I could say I knew absolutely everything about him. Now, for about half a year, he has been communicating very little with me. He has become very aggressive towards me and others, comes home late, and every night after school immediately sits down at the computer to play games. I’m afraid that he’s involved in a bad company. How can I know what’s going on with him?

Dear Mother,

There’s definitely a reason why he has been acting like that, but instead of making assumptions, you should try to talk with him. Be nice and comforting so he trusts you and tells the truth.
